UC3M’s Department of Aerospace Engineering Leads Innovative Research to Protect Astronauts’ Health

23 Sep

The UC3M Department of Aerospace Engineering is taking part in a pioneering international project, led by Professor Ana Díaz Artiles (Texas A&M University and UC3M honorary professor), to protect astronauts’ cardiovascular and ocular health during long-duration missions. Supported by the Spanish Space Agency, the research team has just completed a parabolic flight campaign in Bordeaux to test an innovative countermeasure against the effects of microgravity—an essential step for future Moon and Mars exploration. The project also stands out for its strong Spanish and female participation, highlighting UC3M’s active role in advancing cutting-edge space science with global impact.
