Explore the Invisible World of Infrared Science at Madrid es Ciencia

25 Mar

The Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) will once again participate in the “Madrid es Ciencia” Fair, an annual science outreach event showcasing how technology and research can shape the future. This year’s edition features innovative demonstrations on physical training, biomedical imaging, robotics, the science of infrared radiation, and the representation of women scientists in film, among many other topics.

The Department of Aerospace Engineering will take part with a hands-on activity titled:

The Invisible World: Exploring Science through Infrared Technology

Visitors will be invited to discover the invisible universe of infrared radiation using a thermal camera that reveals what the human eye cannot see. Through this activity, attendees will observe in real time how everyday objects emit and reflect heat, and will learn about the principles of thermal radiation, energy transfer, and insulation. The session will also highlight real-world applications in fields such as safety, medicine, and energy efficiency.

The activity will be led by Antonio Cuellar Martín and Qihong Lorena Li Hu, researchers from the UC3M Department of Aerospace Engineering.

Date: March 27
Time: 15:30 to 20:00
Location: IFEMA – “Madrid es Ciencia” Fair

Join us and experience how infrared science helps us understand and interact with the hidden aspects of our physical world.
