UC3M ST3LLARsat1 “BOIRA” arrives to ESA FYS-DB’s Final Design Review (FDR)

15 Mar

The ESA Fly-Your-Satellite Design Booster (FYS!-DB) FDR has arrived, and we are happy to say that the ST3LLARsat1 team submitted the complete «CubeSat Project File» (CPF). The CPF consisted of more than 17 documents, including a main summary, see Figure 1, as well as technical and analysis reports, datasheets, and CAD/simulation files.

The team wants to thank our ESA FYS!-DB’s technical officers, Dr. Loris Franchi, David de Palma, and Enol Vílchez Llamazares, for their continuous support during this past 18 months of the program.

As part of the FDR, the team will receive a set of Review Item Discrepancies (RIDs) from ESA experts at the end of March, and then 8 lucky ST3LLARsat1 students will travel in April to ESA-ESTEC (The Netherlands) to attend the FDR collocation meetings and discuss the RIDs with ESA specialists, collecting in the process invaluable insight to further consolidate our design, which will be presented at the final FYS!-DB presentations in April/May.

Currently, ST3LLARsat1 is participated by 35 MISE graduate students and is led by Prof. Andrés Marcos (Beatriz Galindo Senior Distinguished Researcher) supported by Dr. Diego Navarro-Tapia (codirector of MA, ADCS, OBDH&C and SW teams), prof. Gabriele Dessena (codirector of STR, PAY, THRM and EPS) and Dr. Andoni Moral (INTA, AIV manager of ST3LLAR). ST3LLARsat is financially supported by the UC3M-SENER aerospace chair ST3LLAR, the aerospace department at UC3M, and prof. Marcos’ Beatriz Galindo awards from the Spanish Ministry of Science and from the Comunidad de Madrid (SPACEROBCON-CM-UC3M).
