Two Visiting Professor Positions Open at the Department of Aerospace Engineering

The Department of Aerospace Engineering at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) is pleased to announce the opening of two Visiting Professor positions aimed at strengthening its teaching and research activities in strategic areas of Aerospace Engineering.

The positions, available for researchers with up to four years of postdoctoral experience and no affiliation with UC3M during the previous year, offer an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and internationally recognized academic environment combining high-quality teaching with cutting-edge research.

Successful candidates will contribute to the Department’s undergraduate and graduate programs in Aerospace Engineering while developing competitive research activities and collaborating with the Department’s research groups.

Open Positions

1. Assistant Professor (Ref. AERO-25-05-AP) – 2-Year Contract

Starting in September 2026, this position seeks candidates with expertise in Green Aviation, Aircraft Design and Manufacturing. Outstanding applicants from other Aerospace Engineering disciplines that complement the Department’s current strengths will also be considered.

The selected candidate will contribute to teaching and coordination activities in the Aerospace Engineering BSc and MSc programs and will help consolidate a competitive research program through scientific publications, research proposal development, and PhD supervision.

2. Short Duration Visiting Professor (Ref. AERO-25-05-shortVP) – 9-Month Contract

Expected to start between December 2026 and January 2027, this position focuses on Machine Learning applications to Aerospace Engineering.

The successful candidate will develop a transversal research line supporting the Department’s researchers in applying machine learning methods to a wide range of aerospace challenges, while also contributing to teaching activities and the preparation of competitive research proposals.

General Conditions

Both positions offer:

  • Gross salary in the range of €35,000–€40,000 per year, depending on postdoctoral experience.
  • Additional performance- and excellence-based salary supplements.
