Dr. Gabriele Dessena Awarded Prestigious Juan de la Cierva Fellowship to Advance Aerospace Structural Dynamics

13 Apr

We are proud to announce that Dr. Gabriele Dessena has been awarded a highly competitive Juan de la Cierva fellowship. Funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, this prestigious grant supports early-career researchers in their postdoctoral training and fosters the integration of talented scientists into leading Spanish R&D institutions.

Dr. Dessena’s research will center on his project, FARMI (Frameworks for Advanced Reduced-Order Modelling and Identification). The project aims to identify and analyze the structural dynamics of aeronautical and aerospace structures utilizing advanced data-driven white and grey-box methods. In particular, his work will implement cutting-edge techniques, including the use of Physics-Informed Neural Networks for nonlinear system identification, as well as the Loewner Framework for linear system identification operating in the output-only domain.

The Aerospace Engineering Department at UC3M warmly congratulates Dr. Gabriele Dessena on this remarkable achievement and looks forward to the significant scientific contributions his research will bring to the fields of structural dynamics and aerospace engineering.
