UC3M’s Aerospace Engineering Department Opens Three Assistant Professor Positions
18 NovThe Department of Aerospace Engineering at UC3M has opened an international call for three Assistant Professor positions, aimed at early-career researchers eager to take a decisive step forward in their academic careers.
The call opens on November 14th, 2025, and aims to attract highly motivated candidates with a PhD in Aerospace Engineering or related fields, especially those with experience in Aircraft Design and Manufacturing. Excellent candidates in other areas are also highly encouraged to apply.
These positions come with a two-year full-time contract, starting February 1st, 2026, and running until January 31st, 2028. During this period, new faculty members will take on around 120 teaching hours per year in the Department’s BSc and MSc programs, contribute to the supervision of theses, and engage with students who are highly motivated and internationally minded.
Beyond teaching, successful candidates are expected to strengthen the Department’s research portfolio by publishing high-impact work, securing competitive funding, or co-supervising PhD research. They will also take part in the Department’s day-to-day academic life, from outreach to representation activities.
The positions offer an annual gross salary between €38,000 and €41,000, plus access to UC3M’s performance-based salary supplements and full healthcare coverage under the Spanish National System. Candidates who successfully complete the two-year period are expected to transition into a tenure-track position.
Applicants must submit their materials as a single PDF to aero@uc3m.es, using the subject line “Visiting Professor – Aero 25/26”, before December 1st, 2025. Late applications may still be considered until the Hiring Committee reaches a final decision. The selection process will include a review of all applications, followed by video interviews with the most promising candidates.
UC3M strongly encourages applications from women, to overcome the gender balance in aerospace engineering. The entire process will follow the University’s HRS4R (HR Excellence in Research) principles, ensuring transparency and equal opportunities.
