Department of Aerospace Engineering Researchers Included in the 2025 Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List
16 OctTwo researchers from the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) — Gonzalo Sánchez Arriaga and Antonio Ahedo — have been included in the prestigious Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List 2025, which identifies the world’s most influential scientists based on citation impact.
In this edition of the ranking, Gonzalo Sánchez was recognized in the field of Engineering, while Antonio Ahedo appears in the category of Physics & Astronomy, reflecting the department’s broad contribution to cutting-edge research in both applied and fundamental areas of aerospace science.
The Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List, coordinated by John Ioannidis (Stanford University) and recently published by Elsevier under the title “August 2025 data-update for Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators,” uses the Scopus database to evaluate researchers according to a range of bibliometric indicators — including total citations, h-index, and co-authorship–adjusted metrics.
