Open call for expressions of interest – Assistant Professor

The Department of Aerospace Engineering (DAE) at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), Spain, is inviting expressions of interest for a position as Assistant Professor in Aerospace Engineering.

Desired Background and Skills

• Field of experience: Aerospace Engineering or related fields.

• Independent research potential, critical thinking, and ability to work in innovative and interdisciplinary environments.
• Up to 6 years of postdoctoral experience.

Teaching Duties

The position involves teaching and coordinating courses within the BSc and MSc degrees in Aerospace Engineering (https://aero.uc3m.es/teaching/). Candidates are expected to contribute approximately 100 teaching hours per academic year, including regular courses and supervision of BSc and MSc theses.

Research Duties

Selected candidates will be expected to:

• Contribute to consolidating a competitive research program in one or more areas of Aerospace Engineering.
• Participate in the preparation of competitive research funding proposals.
• Publish in high-impact international journals.
• Supervise PhD theses.

General Duties

Faculty members are also expected to take part in the Department’s regular management, representation, and dissemination activities.

Contractual Conditions

• Gross salary range: €30,000 – €40,000 per year, depending on postdoctoral experience.
• Possibility of additional salary supplements offered by UC3M, based on productivity and excellence.
• Standard benefits, including healthcare under the Spanish National System.
• Preferred contract start date: September 2025.
• Initial contract duration: 3 years, with the possibility of extension up to 6 years, subject to positive evaluations.
