Visit to Torrejón ACC!
11 MarLast week, students from the Master’s Program in Aeronautical Engineering, guided by Prof. Manuel Soler, had the opportunity to visit the Torrejón Area Control Center (ACC), and it was a fascinating experience. The Torrejón ACC is part of the ENAIRE Control Center complex in Madrid, leaving no doubt about the magnitude of its importance in managing air traffic in Spain.
The services offered by the Torrejón ACC are extensive. From managing air traffic in the Madrid FIR/UIR region to providing proximity services to airports in the Madrid Community, this control center is a fundamental piece in the safety and efficiency of Spanish airspace. Additionally, its role in providing centralized services nationwide through the Centralized Air Navigation Data Network (REDAN), CRAMI, and the «Automatic Air Navigation System» (SACTA), among others, underscores its strategic importance.
The visit also allowed an appreciation of the level of technology and precision involved in air traffic management. From the use of satellite navigation systems like EGNOS to the implementation of advanced communication and control technologies, the Torrejón ACC demonstrates an unwavering commitment to safety and operational efficiency. The experience provided students with a real and practical insight into air traffic operations, complementing their academic training with invaluable practical knowledge.
