Airborne Wind Europe, CT Ingenieros y la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid  are pleased to announce the success of the recent webinar titled “Advances in Airborne Wind Energy.” This event convened leading experts in the field to deliberate upon innovations and opportunities within the domain of Airborne Wind Energy.

The webinar commenced with a presentation by Mr. Kristian Petrick, Secretary General of Airborne Wind Europe, who provided a succinct introduction to AWES (Airborne Wind Energy Systems) and underscored the latest advancements witnessed on an international scale.

Mr. Agustín Arjonilla, Senior Consultant at CT Ingenieros, cogently expounded upon the strategic significance of AWE for Spain, particularly in regions characterized by sparse population densities, where land availability assumes paramount importance.

The discussion culminated with an address by Professors Gonzalo Sánchez-Arriaga and David Santos Martín of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, who emphasized the institution’s pioneering role in developing innovative technologies such as AWE. Their presentation of the inaugural “yo-yo” system, developed in collaboration with CT Ingenieros, heralded a significant milestone in Spain’s AWE landscape.

The next interesting event is the upcoming Airborne Wind Energy Conference (AWEC 2024), which will take place at the Puerta de Toledo Campus of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid from April 24th to 26th.
