Unveiling of AWES-Lab and AWES Flight Test Center

We are delighted to announce the grand opening of the state-of-the-art Airborne Wind Energy Systems (AWES) facilities AWES-Lab and AWES Flight Test Center at the UC3M Science Park in Madrid. This momentous occasion also marks the establishment of the AWES Chair, a collaborative initiative between CT and the University Carlos III of Madrid.

AWES, or Airborne Wind Energy Systems, represents a groundbreaking technology in the realm of renewable energy generation. Leveraging advanced aeronautical technologies, this innovative approach is poised to play a pivotal role in the future of renewable energy, thanks to its cost-effective nature.

Since 2021, the UC3M, in collaboration with CT, has been spearheading AWES technology development in Spain. Through the successful execution of various projects and infrastructures, our institutions have not only deepened their understanding of AWES but have also positioned Madrid as a global leader in the AWES sector. This recognition is further exemplified by the honor of hosting the upcoming world AWES event, AWEC2024, scheduled to take place in Madrid in April of the coming year.

The Inauguration of the AWES-Lab and the AWES Flight Test Centre is set to take place on November 28, 2023, at the UC3M Science Park in Leganés Tecnológico, starting at 13:00.
