Embark on Cosmic Adventures: Nestor VR Project Takes You to the Moon, Mars, and Beyond!
8 SepHave you ever imagined traveling to the Moon, Mars, or Jupiter’s moon, Europa? Well, the Nestor VR project is making this possible! This innovative endeavor is a collaboration between Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M), the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), the Institute of Geosciences (IGEO), and the Spanish Network of Planetology and Astrobiology (Redespa).
Originally an experimental initiative with secondary school students, the goal is to make it accessible in high schools, institutions, planetariums, or museums. Imagine not just exploring the incredibly detailed landscapes of the Moon or Mars but also gaining firsthand awareness of theoretical concepts, like the lack of an atmospheric layer on the Moon.
Manuel Sanjurjo, professor in our UC3M Aerospace Engineering department and head of the project, tells ‘Hoy por Hoy Madrid Sur’ how he has recreated these surfaces and conditions to offer a realistic experience.
